Crystal Dzigas of Honolulu won the Back Beach Women’s Pro longboard surfing contest yesterday at Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Australia.
Dzigas received a score of 8.0 (out of 10) for a barrel ride early in the heat, and stayed in the lead the rest of the way. She received $1,100 for her first international victory.
“I’m so happy right now; I’ve been to this event for five or six years and have only ever made a couple of heats,” Dzigas said. “I was pretty intimidated by the competition, but luckily I saw that barrel and I just went for it and that’s what earned me the win.”
Congratulations Crystal!
